Fluet is proud to announce a sponsorship of the Northern Virginia Technology Council (NVTC)’s new Government Contracting Community of Interest, launching this fall.

NVTC, the prominent trade association representing the Northern Virginia technology ecosystem, convenes a diverse array of tech companies, government contractors, service providers, academic institutions, and non-profits committed to driving innovation and improving how the region lives, works, and learns.

“We are thrilled to to be adding a Community of Interest focused on serving NVTC members who are government contractors, ” said Jennifer Taylor, president and CEO,  NVTC. “Our region is a major hub for both small and large government contractors who develop innovative technology solutions to support the Federal Government’s modernization efforts. This peer-to-peer group will facilitate the navigation of complex processes and requirements, as well as help foster growth and mitigate challenges for companies in this sector.”

The new COI is being spearheaded by two of Fluet’s key practice groups, Corporate + Transactional and Government Contracts, each of which have extensive experience assisting clients in the government contracting and technology sectors. Through this initiative, Fluet attorneys are continuing their work of promoting the growth and prosperity of the thriving government contracting community in Northern Virginia.

“NVTC has long been a preeminent source of community for technology companies and the groups that fund and support their growth in Northern Virginia,” said Bradley McConnell, Chair of Fluet’s Corporate + Transactional Practice, and a founding member of the board of the Government Contracting COI.

“We have seen a remarkable growth in technology-focused companies working with the Federal Government over the nearly three decades that I have been practicing in the DMV. Technology companies selling their products and services to the Federal Government face challenges and opportunities that are distinct from those who focus exclusively on the commercial sector. The ability of these companies to grow and thrive is generally tied to their ability to tap the wealth of knowledge from other entrepreneurs, professionals and other knowledgeable members of this community. We believe that the COI’s programs will appeal to both seasoned veterans of the Northern Virginia government contracting community AND technology companies that may be ‘GovCon curious’ as to how they can profit from entering this sector.”

The Government Contracting COI will serve as a complement to NVTC’s existing COIs, including the thriving “Cybersecurity and Privacy” group which also focuses on issues critical to many government contractors.

In support of the new initiative, Fluet has assembled a diverse leadership board with robust networks from a wide range of industries including defense and space manufacturing, business consulting, IT services, insurance, financial services, investment banking, and venture capital and private equity principals, to help support the mission of providing high quality programming for the new Community of Interest. The Board is tasked with bringing the community together through a range of educational, informative and entertaining events.

The Government Contracting COI is open (and free to join) to all members of NVTC and promises to be an invaluable resource for companies operating in this critical sector. To learn more or get involved, visit the NVTC website at nvtc.org.
