Fluet is thrilled to announce that the firm has been named a Finalist for the “Veteran Small Business Advocate of the Year Award – Service Provider” by the National Veteran Small Business Coalition (NVSBC). The winners will be announced at the NVSBC Awards Gala on November 7, 2024.

The NVSBC, a nationally recognized non-profit organization, has been honoring leadership in achieving Federal contracting goals with Veteran entrepreneurs for over a decade through its Champion Awards Program. The Veteran Small Business Advocate of the Year Award specifically recognizes teams who have gone above and beyond in advocating for Veteran-Owned Small Businesses (VOSBs) and Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Businesses (SDVOSBs) within their organization or agency.

Fluet’s Government Contracts attorneys provide crucial guidance to veteran-owned small businesses, ensuring they can effectively compete for federal contracts, by:

  • Pre-assessing eligibility and assisting with questions related to SD/VOSB regulations and certifications
  • Negotiating and forming joint ventures, including under the Mentor-Protégé Program
  • Offering guidance on affiliation analysis, growth strategies, and compliance with applicable regulations
  • Providing legal advocacy for SD/VOSB clients when other businesses attempt to take more workshare than negotiated or permitted
  • Representing SD/VOSB clients in bid protests, both as intervenors and protestors

Beyond legal services, Fluet actively supports the veteran business community by hosting a marquee annual event aimed at celebrating Marines, veteran entrepreneurs, and military supporters. Numerous attorneys also serve on military-focused boards and often partake in various military causes that align with our founding principles.

“As a veteran-founded and led firm, we are deeply honored to be considered for this award that strongly aligns with our founding principles,” says Tom Craig, Fluet Managing Partner. “Our team’s passion for supporting veteran-owned businesses stems from our own roots, and this nomination reflects our ongoing commitment to their success in the federal marketplace. We’re proud to continue serving and advocating for our fellow veterans in the business world.”

The annual NVSBC Awards Gala demonstrates strong partnerships between federal agencies, large government contractors, and the Veteran small business government contractor community.

Fluet extends congratulations to the other Finalists and looks forward to continuing to assist veteran-owned small businesses by providing robust legal services to a vital community. To learn more about the Awards Gala or view the full list of Finalists, please visit NVSBC.org.
