Government Contracts Counsel (Disputes)
Position Description
As a Counsel in our Government Contracts Practice, you will be advocating for government contractors of all sizes with all aspects of government contracts disputes – sometimes as First Chair. You will be part of a dynamic and collegial team with opportunities to work directly with clients and to expand and shape your own practice.
Experience with regulatory compliance (e.g., FAR/DFARS), drafting and negotiating agreements (e.g., teaming agreements, prime and subcontract agreements), and government investigations is essential. Additionally, experience with prime-sub disputes, bid protests, suspension and debarment, compliance audits, novations, and small business programs is desirable. A successful candidate will possess excellent writing skills, strong communication abilities, and consistent attention to detail.
This position can expect to have direct interaction with clients and responsibility for managing matters independently.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in Government Contracts
- Admission (or waiver) to Virginia Bar
Preferred Qualifications
- DoD/National Security background
- Judicial Clerkship in the Court of Federal Claims or Board of Contract Appeals
- Work experience with a federal contractor, a government agency, and/or a nationally recognized government contracts practice
Senior Human Resources Generalist
Position Description
We are seeking a dedicated HR Generalist or Senior HR Generalist with fundamental knowledge and experience across HR functions. The candidate will be involved in, but not limited to, administering health benefits, recruiting, performance management, employee relations, revising processes, and general compliance matters. This position is eligible for hybrid work, with an expectation of approximately 3 days per week in our Tysons, VA office.
Responsibilities
- Support the open enrollment process, carrier enrollments, the implementation of employees’ health insurance changes, and administer additional employee benefit programs and perks
- Manage end-to-end HR processes, including onboarding, offboarding, and employee lifecycle management
- Regularly collaborate with practice leaders on active positions, manage job postings, review resumes, coordinate interviews, draft offers, and support recruitment programs
- Provide excellent day-to-day HR support to employees by answering inquiries and assisting with HR-related matters promptly
- Ensure the payment of monthly bills and invoices in a timely manner
- Conduct background checks and complete employment verifications
- Oversee ongoing performance management and annual performance review processes
- Manage employee relations and conflict resolution with discretion
- Lead and execute HR programs to enhance employee engagement, satisfaction, and retention
- Maintain paperwork and ensure compliance in all HR operations, including but not limited to, federal, state, and local employment laws, regulations, and best practices
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on various process improvements and projects
- Stay well-informed of local and federal employment laws and regulations, and maintain knowledge of industry trends and best practices
- Conduct regular HR audits to ensure data accuracy, policy adherence, and overall HR effectiveness
- Support and enforce company policies and procedures
- Assist with ad hoc HR projects and collaboration with other departments as assigned
Education + Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required
- At least 3 years of relevant HR Generalist experience in a law firm or professional services environment preferred
- Experience working in a smaller HR team preferred
- SHRM-CP or similar HR certification preferred

Legal Assistant (Temporary)
Position Overview
Fluet is seeking a temporary, full-time Legal Assistant to join our litigation team, providing critical support for our attorneys in employment law cases, with particular focus on Merit Systems Protection Board (MSPB) proceedings and federal administrative matters. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. This position is hybrid with the expectation of being on-site at our Tysons, VA office 3-4 days per week.
Core Responsibilities
- Draft and prepare legal documents including pleadings, briefs, motions, and discovery materials while ensuring compliance with court rules and procedures, particularly for the MSPB and federal courts
- Provide comprehensive litigation support including document organization, exhibit preparation, witness coordination, and in-courtroom assistance for hearings and depositions
- Manage case deadlines, maintain accurate records, and track billable time while ensuring all filings and submissions meet required timelines
- Collaborate with attorneys and staff to conduct fact investigations, organize case files, and support client communications while maintaining strict confidentiality
- Conduct legal research using LexisNexis/Westlaw and prepare memoranda summarizing findings on case law, regulations, and legal opinions for attorney review on an as-needed basis
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s degree, Bachelor’s degree, or paralegal certificate
- Minimum of two (2) years of relevant Legal Assistant experience, preferably in a law firm or professional services environment
- Civil litigation experience
- Familiarity with federal courts, their procedures, and e-filing
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
- Commitment to maintaining strict confidentiality and exercising sound judgment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with federal administrative agencies, such as the MSPB
