Kia Rahnama

Associate

Kia Rahnama serves as an Associate at Fluet primarily supporting the firm’s Litigation + Investigations Practice, bringing an extensive background in public service and a wealth of experience in the federal court system to his role with the firm.

Mr. Rahnama has served in all three branches of the Federal Government. Most recently, Mr. Rahnama completed a three-year term as a Judicial Clerk at the U.S. Court of Federal Claims, where he worked on a wide array of cases, including Fifth Amendment Takings, military and civilian pay, copyright, tax, tribal trust, and bid protests. Prior to his clerkship, Mr. Rahnama served as a judicial intern to the Honorable Evan J. Wallach of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and as an Assistant Attorney General  at the D.C. Office of the Attorney General.

Mr. Rahnama’s background centers around advising clients on government regulatory challenges and complex litigation. In addition to his litigation and regulatory counseling practice, he has worked in the Office of General Counsel at the White House Office of Science & Technology, the Department of Labor, and the Food and Drug Administration. In this capacity, Mr. Rahnama advised government officials on ethics issues, Freedom of Information Act, appropriations, and Congressional investigations.

Mr. Rahnama’s diverse federal agency experience in conjunction with his expertise in motions practice makes him well-equipped to contribute to the firm’s litigation practice.

He earned his Juris Doctor from George Washington University Law School and a Master of Arts in International Affairs from the Elliott School of International Affairs. Mr. Rahnama is an enthusiastic writer, having published articles in notable journals such as the Notre Dame Journal of Legislation and the University of Illinois Journal of Law, Technology, and Policy.

In addition to his legal expertise, Mr. Rahnama is fluent in Farsi.

Mr. Rahnama has a strong passion for public service and received the Gold Level President’s Volunteer Service Award for completing 2,000 hours of pro bono legal service.
